Unveiling the Writer

Like most writers, I discovered writing as a child. While most children were out playing tag and riding bikes, I was in rainforests and jungles; I was in different time periods all together; I journeyed across the world, by train, plane and any other form of transportation. I learned at a young age imagination is a powerful tool, as I’ve grown, unlike most adults, my imagination has not diminished. It continues to take me into worlds I don’t reside in reality; my explorations are unstoppable.

Throughout my school years I continued writing and grew a passion for the art of filmmaking. This led me to attend to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where I received my BFA in Film and Television. Upon graduation, I traveled to the one place everyone goes to to make it in the industry, Los Angeles. My experience there has been beneficial to my professional life. Starting out working for Nickelodeon, working there for many years before entering the world of freelancing as a script supervisor. During my time as a script supervisor I had the opportunities to work close with several producers and directors on various projects including television pilots, commercials, short films and promos. My skills were sharpened and my knowledge broadened.

But this career was taking my away from my true passion, writing. With long days as a script supervisor I found there was less time to work on my writing. So after a few years I left the freelance world and found a job as an associate editor for a website. I soon was promoted to managing editor and also joined their writing team as a staff writer.

In my free time, I still consistently work on my own creative work, which I’ve learned to be a good balance between my professional writing and my creative writing.
